Eyelid surgery - Warsaw and Płock
The eye is undoubtedly one of the most important sensory organs. It is thanks to them that we can admire the world around us and perceive stimuli. Unfortunately, the area around the eye is also very delicate and sensitive. The main proteins building the skin and connective tissue, such as elastin and collagen, weaken over the years, causing a loss of skin elasticity, which often becomes saggy.
Drooping eyelids, wrinkles, or so-called "bags under the eyes" are common problems among older people; however, it is worth noting that it also affects younger individuals. Upper, lower, or both eyelid surgery is the perfect solution for unsightly changes in the eyelid area. This procedure not only improves the appearance of the eyes but also rejuvenates them.
How to prepare for the procedure?
The first step before undergoing eyelid surgery is a medical consultation. During the visit, the doctor, after a detailed interview with the patient, qualifies them for the procedure. Other details are also discussed - including the location of scars and possible aesthetic effects.
Indications for undergoing such a procedure include, among others:
- excess soft tissues of the upper eyelids,
- excess soft tissues of the lower eyelids (e.g., so-called "bags under the eyes")
What does the procedure look like?
The eyelid surgery procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and lasts from 1.5 to 2 hours. The procedure is performed simultaneously on the upper or lower eyelids. In the previously planned places, the skin is cut along with the orbicularis muscle and excess fat pads. In the case of upper eyelids, the incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid; for lower eyelids, it is made under the lash line, making the postoperative scar practically invisible. Once bleeding is under control, the wound is closed in layers with very thin stitches, which are hardly noticeable after healing. A compression dressing is then applied for 24 hours.
Magdalena Hałasa, MD, a specialist in ophthalmology, performs upper and lower eyelid surgeries. Her expertise includes eye surgery, eyelid surgery, and the aesthetics of the eye's protective apparatus. These procedures are available at OrtoGo Medical Centre, located in Warsaw and Płock.
