Orthokine® Therapy
Orthokine® Therapy is a modern method for treating inflammatory conditions and degenerative joint disease using autologous signaling proteins. This original therapy has been in use since 1998 and is characterized by high effectiveness and complete safety, utilizing materials derived from the patient's peripheral blood.
Degenerative joint diseases and inflammatory joint conditions are characterized by disturbances in cytokine balance, which are polypeptides responsible for regulating various cellular reactions. In Orthokine® therapy, beneficial signaling proteins such as cytokines and growth factors are used to create a serum that reaches the source of pain and inflammation. This restores natural balance, thereby halting tissue degradation and inflammatory processes.
The therapy is supported by numerous clinical studies confirming its effectiveness in muscle and tendon injuries. In Poland, Orthokine® therapy is available exclusively in selected licensed centers.
Indications for Orthokine® Therapy:
- degenerative joint disease
- joint pain
- spinal pain
- regeneration after sports injuries
- post-surgical recovery, e.g., knee joint
- limited joint mobility
- pain during exercise and exertion
- night pain
- joint crepitus
- tendon injuries
- muscle injuries
- joint inflammations
What does Orthokine® therapy look like?
STEP I
Blood is drawn from the patient's vein into a specialized EOT®II syringe, containing specially prepared contact substances. The syringe includes specially prepared glass beads that stimulate the cells in contact with them to produce specific proteins capable of inhibiting inflammatory processes, the most important of which is a protein called IL-1Ra Interleukin.
STEP II
In the second stage of therapy, the process of obtaining anti-inflammatory proteins begins. Conditioning involves placing the material in a laboratory incubator at 37°C for a period of 6 to 9 hours.
STEP III
After the incubation period, unnecessary blood cells are separated, leaving behind the conditioned serum, which is the liquid part of the blood devoid of cells. This serum is then administered to the patient via injection into the inflamed area, slowing down or halting the disease process.
From one blood draw from the patient, 6-8 doses of conditioned serum can be obtained, which are administered at intervals determined by the doctor (1-3 times per week). The first treatment can be performed on the same day as the blood draw. The clinical effects of the therapy last for over 2 years.
